Obituary for William Tinney V

Tryon, NC-William Joseph Tinney, V., 75, of Tryon, NC passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Born in Bryan, TX, he was the son of the late William Joseph Tinney, Jr. and Helen Lockhart Tinney.  He proudly served his country in the Navy and Army reserves.  He was employed by Michelin Tire until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Columbus Baptist Church in Columbus, NC and a lifetime member of the NRA.  A firm believer in God and family, Bill shared his testimony freely. His love of God before all else, which made him an amazing father and grandfather. Bill’s loving personality, contagious smile, fun ways, and strong leadership will be missed by all who knew him. He truly was a man of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers. John L (Jack) Orr, Wallace (Hoyt) Orr, and Orion (Lee) Orr.

Surviving are his daughters Dwana Engel (Eric Floyd) and Laura Tinney (Kevin McCall), granddaughter Misha Tinney, fiancé Debra McMahan, cousin Clyde L Lancaster (Mitzi), and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday January 26, 2024 at 1 p.m.  at Columbus, Baptist Church in Columbus, NC with Pastor Timothy Fortune officiating.  Military Honors will be presented by the Polk Memorial Veterans Honor Guard.
