Obituary for Wanda Nagro

TRYON – Wanda Gail Nagro, 69, of Tryon, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, August 11, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born in Gastonia, she was the daughter of the late Furman and Nellie Mae Bishop Simpson. Wanda was a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan. She worked with her husband at their business, Techmet Carbides in Hickory. Throughout her life, her passion was to help people and take care of her family. Wanda was a member of Tryon Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Simpson.

Surviving is her loving husband of 35 years, Louis “Lou” Nagro; four sons, Daniel Nagro of Spartanburg, Neal Jennings (April) of Lyman, Chris Jennings (Shawnna) of Lyman and Brandon Nagro (Codey) of Spartanburg; one daughter, Laura Harrington (Christopher) of Dublin, Ireland; one brother, Furman L. Simpson (Debra) of Wellford; thirteen grandchildren, Dorian Nagro, Willow Nagro, Dawson Jennings, Ethan Jennings, Hailie Jennings, Skylar Jennings, Christian Jennings, Lauren Nagro, Taylor Nagro, Hannah Nagro, Harper Boone, Jack Harrington and Finn Harrington; two great-grandchildren, Marshall Nagro and Mason Rumsey; a cousin, Brenda Martin (Lloyd) of Locust Grove, Georgia. Also surviving is her K9 companion, Shadow.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 14, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with Reverend Lester Lambert officiating.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
