FLAT ROCK – Shirley Irene Connor, 76, of Flat Rock passed away peacefully Friday evening, August 25, 2023.

Shirley was born on March 14, 1947, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Oscar and Pennie Rivenbark Gurganious. She was the youngest of eight kids. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and enjoyed spending time with them. Along with her family, she loved her little dog, Bo and listening to Country Music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers; one sister; one son-in-law, Dan McIe; her first husband of thirty-five years, Frank “Bill” Connor in 1999.

Shirley leaves behind her husband of eighteen years, Jeff Campbell; two sons, Frank Connor, Jr. (Fran) of Flat Rock and Donald Connor of Zirconia; four daughters, Pat Gosnell (Randy) of Flat Rock, Pennie McIe of Saluda, June Connor (Steve) of Flat Rock and Peggy Garren (Junior) of Saluda; eleven grandchildren, Karla McIe, Brandy McIe, Justin McIe, Matthew Keener, Amanda Duncan, DJ Garren, Corey Garren, Alyssa Connor, Tyler Connor, Khole Connor and Aiden Connor; ten great-grandchildren, Payten, Bella, Raelynn, Lakelyn, Clayton, Thomas, Leah, Connor, Ryder and Gabriel. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and special caregiver, Ansley Brennen.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 29, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, August 30, 2023 at Saluda City Cemetery with Reverend Stephen Newman officiating.

At other times, the family will be at the home of Pat and Randy Gosnell in Flat Rock.
