Obituary for Mary Plumley

LANDRUM – Mary Ann Plumley, 78, of Landrum, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at her home.

Born in Walnut, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. Leritz and Majorie Stokey Leritz and wife of the late Clyde Plumley who passed away in 2017.  Mary and Clyde met in Walnut, Kansas while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. After they married, they lived in several places until his retirement in 1982. After retirement, they settled back to Clyde’s hometown in Landrum. Mary Ann enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She volunteered for many years with the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Mill Spring. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Landrum.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Leritz.

Surviving are two sons, Duane Plumley (Travis) of Hendersonville and Scott Plumley of Landrum; one daughter, Deanna Ridings of Landrum; one granddaughter, Keri Grohs (Dillon) of Landrum; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Ali and Drake; two brothers, Roger Leritz (Ginny) and Wayne Leritz (Ruth); one sister, Betty Jean Purdon (Frank).

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Landrum.

A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Randy Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
