Obituary for John Shacklett
Columbus, NC—John “Jack” Vernon Shacklett, 93, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at LaurelWoods in Columbus, NC.
Jack was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Shacklett.
Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Ellen; sons, John (Andrea) and Patrick (Theresa); four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his sister, Carol Bretz (George); brother, Tony (Janet) and a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Hinkle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association- Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 25B, Charlotte, NC 28209 or to a charity of one’s choice.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tryon, North Carolina with Father Jason Christian officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, North Carolina.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Stone Soup, 1522 E Rutherford St, Landrum, SC 29356.
