John R. Kinard, 82, of Saluda, NC passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.

John was born in Texas and was a graduate of the University of Texas where he obtained his law degree.  John was a veteran, and proudly served his country during Vietnam. He was an active member of the Saluda Community and previously served on the Saluda City Council.  John was a dedicated member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda, where he served in many capacities including singing in the choir and serving at the altar.

John was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Edgar Kinard.

Surviving is his daughter, Kelly Kinard and a son, Fred Scott Kinard.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Saluda, North Carolina with Rev. Chip Broadfoot officiating.  Military Honors will be provided by the Polk County Veterans Honor Guard.
