Obituary for Giles Robertson

GREEN CREEK – Giles Edwin “Ed” Robertson, 80, of Green Creek, went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning, August 10, 2023 at his home.

Born in Hamlett, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Gilbert Duncan Robertson and Virginia Brantley Robertson and husband of the late Norma Levi Robertson who passed away in 2014. Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during Vietnam. After the war, he went on to work in the insurance industry and later became a truck driver. Later in life, Ed surrendered to the Lord and answered the call to be a pastor and served in three area churches. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and birdwatching. Ed was a member of Pacolet Hills Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kristen McShane and Peter Ivester; three brothers, Gilbert Robertson, Jr., Johnny Robertson and Robert Robertson.

Surviving are three daughters, Hollie Stone (Brian) of Mocksville, North Carolina, Rebecca Ivester of Mt. Holly, North Carolina and Andrea Day (Steve) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two sons, Todd Ivester of Goodlettsville, Tennessee and Eric Ivester of Clarksville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Paul, Melissa, Kari, Michael and Joseph; five great-grandchildren, Keely, Connor, Luca, Matthew and Rory; two brothers, Ralph Robertson and Kenny Robertson; one sister, Dianne Sheppard; his long-time feline companion, Stormy. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Pacolet Hills Baptist Church in Columbus.

A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with Reverend John Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow in Sandy Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
