Obituary for Clarence Hartman

Landrum, SC- Clarence Peter Hartman, 94, passed away on January 23, 2024 at his home.

Pete proudly served his country in the Navy, enlisting in January of 1945 and serving until January 1947. In 1949, he re-enlisted in the Navy and in 1960 he was commissioned as an Ensign.  He served until his retirement April 1st, 1971, as a Lt. Commander serving a total of 24 years and 9 months.  Pete was a member of Gowensville Baptist Church.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ella Fisher Hartman in 1997; three sisters, Elevera L. Ahlenslager, Donna Mae Pretzer and Virginia Lee Notman and one brother, James L Hartman of Salida Colorado.

Surviving are two sisters, Beverly Jean Hamilton of Madera California, and Catherine E. Austin of Sacramento California and two brothers, Daniel Ray Hartman of Sedgwick Kansas and Gary Allen Hartman of Huntsville Texas.

A memorial service will be held March 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Gowensville Baptist Church, Landrum, South Carolina.
